Known for her subtlety and flexibility as a performer, Rose Lachman has worked in opera, musical theater, ballet, symphony, and chamber orchestra. She made her debut at Carnegie's Weill Hall in 2011 after studying with Irish pianist John O'Conor at the Adamant Music School.
As a founding member and project leader of the Colorado New Music Ensemble, Ms. Lachman is a proponent of chamber and solo music written in the past 50 years. She is a dynamic collaborator, and is fortunate to work closely with living composers, including Denver composer Nathan Hall.
In 2016, Ms. Lachman advanced to the semi-finals of the inaugural Boulder International Chamber Music Competition with violinist Michiko Theurer. Together, they continue to collaborate on duo projects both locally and nationally.
Ms. Lachman's artistry at the piano is balanced by her engagement with solo and collaborative repertoire, her work with new music and contemporary composers, an active teaching and performing schedule, and a strong liberal arts and pedagogical background.
In addition to her work as a performer, Ms. Lachman has trained older and younger pianists privately for 18 years. Her pedagogical research, culminating in her dissertation titled "Functional Skills: An Examination and Reworking of the Undergraduate Curriculum," informs her individual and group teaching. She plans to expand this research into a textbook.
Rose Lachman earned her doctorate from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she studied with David Korevaar. During this time, she taught keyboard skills, collaborated with the choral area, and coordinated the continuing education music program. She received her M.M. summa cum laude from California State University at Northridge with Dmitry Rachmanov, where she was asked to serve as teaching assistant for keyboard skills, collaborator with the winds department, and coach for the solo piano performance area. Ms. Lachman graduated cum laude from Scripps College in 2005, and spent 2005-2008 collaborating with their vocal department.
Ms. Lachman currently resides in Colorado.
